This assignment was to teach us about professional photo editing techniques, and where to use them. I learned how to tint, use levels, and clone stamp. These techniques are very important to know, and I will be using them for more assignments in the future! These helped me become better at using photoshop, and editing pictures better. I enjoyed this assignment and I was able to use my creativity freely.

I found two very interesting subjects for still life, that I just had to take a picture of! Both the piano and the fake plant have a lot to bring to an image, and I feel like I captured that. I learned that it takes many tries to get the perfect picture. I had to try multiple times until I was satisfied with what I shot. I really enjoyed trying to capture texture and layers in each image. It was a challenge to get my selection down to 10, and I hope you enjoy! I used the Camera raw filter, and brightened up the image a bit. I got rid of some of the noise, and sharped the image a little. I also cropped it a little bit to slightly get rid of the background.
So I hung out with my friends this weekend. I wanted to use them as my assignment this week, because we always have so much fun together. Saturday morning, we went to a trail in the park, and I got some beautiful pictures that truly capture my friends. We all had so much fun, and had lots of laughs. Since I've moved away from them, we haven't been as close. I feel like these pictures really brought us together and really showed me that no matter how far away I am from them, we are always still together in heart :) For this picture I edited the brightness a little, then I edited the vibrance and saturation.
This is my best friend, and I had the honor of taking her beautiful picture. Her and I were so excited about this image because I feel like this says summer so well. Adding the Pop Art piece looks so intriguing and fun! I think this picture really shows me. I learned how to efficiently and successfully use Photoshop tools such as Hue and Saturation, as well as the Threshold tool. Photoshop was hard at times and I messed up a lot, but it turned out pretty good and I can't wait to show it off!
What is composition? Composition is the way we "frame" our photos. In this assignment we learned 11 elements to shooting composition and the ways to use them. The 11 elements are: Rule of thirds, Pattern, Symmetry, Texture, Depth of Field, Lines, Framing, Perspective, Space, Balance, and Color. This project taught me a lot. I learned that there are many different ways to shoot images other than the one way I always use. I learned many techniques and ways to use each element. I feel like also sparks more of my creativity, as I have an eye for many of these elements outside of this class. I've learned a lot about textures, and light. This project also really helped bring out the more artistic side of me. I honestly will never look around at the things around me the same way thanks to this project.
My name is Jordan Gurka. I play JV Field Hockey for saline, I play every role available during games. My favorite is any defensive role, or a forward. I love to take pictures, and enjoy spending time out in nature. I enjoy being around my friends and family, and can't wait to make even more memories with them. We are hosting an exchange student for 9 months! Her name is Olivia, and she is such an amazing person :) My dad and I have always been close, and a few years ago I got my first camera for my birthday. My dad really inspired me to take this class, because he loves to take pictures and would really love to make a living out of it. I still use my first camera, because it's a really great one, and I'm very proud of it. I also really like to edit photos, so I think I'll enjoy this class. I want to learn more about photography and more about cameras. I will never stop taking pictures, and I can't wait to learn more about it :)
